Description
The body has several natural ways to detoxify itself, all of which are important to support as often as we can. When our body wants to remove toxins, it relies on one of the detoxification pathways. The skin is one of these key pathways, and what we put onto our bodies is just as important as what we put in, as toxins can be absorbed through the skin. Sweat plays an important role in this process, helping our bodies to purge unwanted waste. The armpits are one of the primary points of the body where we see this release, and showing them some love and care is a wonderful way to gently aid your body in its natural process.
Who should use an armpit detox? Everybody! This is a wonderful way to aid the body during the transition from traditional antiperspirants to natural deodorants. Not only has your body’s natural ability and need to sweat been stifled by products designed to keep you from doing just that, but they often include ingredients that can be harmful to the body. These build up in the body without any way to be released, causing more odor and creating a dependency on the same products which caused the issue. So when people try to switch to natural deodorants, there is a detox (odorous) period where your body is finally trying to release what it has been holding onto. Using a mask can help to bind and pull these toxins out, making for a quicker and smoother transition. Even if you are not in this stage, just like a face mask this is a great way to periodically give your body a little help in cleansing and releasing unwanted waste.
To use: Cleanse armpits and pat dry before using. Start with 1tsp powder and mix with 1/2 tsp water and 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar, adjusting until you get a yogurt like texture. Using clean hands, spread this mix into an even layer over the underarms. Double the recipe if needed. Let sit for up to 20 minutes, then remove using warm water or a damp washcloth (do not scrub) and pat dry. During a detox stage, use 1-2 times a week. For regular maintenance, use once a month. (Disclaimer: Charcoal can stain)
